SAMA's Fashion Police
By: Aviwe Ndyaluvane

After the negative feedback that the SAMA's received last year, they have certainly elevated their game this year and astounded South Africans. Hosted in the usual channel, SABC1, on Monday South African viewers had the privilege of watching the SAMA's LIVE for the first time in 18years. Just like the saying goes "18 marks growth and independance", and this in a nutshell is what we, South Africans witnessed on Monday night.

But tell me, what can the SAMA's be without fashion...We all know that we don't watch the SAMA's solemnly for the acknowledgement of musicians' talent, we also watch them becuase we are curious to see what our celebrities will be wearing for the night; who will be exquisite and gorgeous, as well as  who will totaly miss the plot. I will begin (in no particular order) by saluting those who gave thought and effort into their outfits, and where not afraid to actually spend money on their outfits.

The Feather Girls: Minnie Dlamini, Miss SA Melinda Bam and Unathi Msengana. These ladies look absolutely amazing with their tight fitting and feathery dresses. Minnie opted for the transparent but yet elegent Hollywood inspired dress (the idea is to not get naked but leave little for imagination). Melinda opted for a Durban July inspired look, while Unathi opted for an African-Western inspired look.

With her second look for the night, Unathi again looked stunning. This time she opted for a laced and African inspired dress keeping it earthly original. Speaking about Unathi, this Diva actually swore on TV and got away with it...
Thembi Seete looked fierce in her leather and gold detailed dress; it totally shapes her body and reveals her figure.
It was absolutely refreshing to see Zahara without her colourful hairbands and afro. This time she actually had a hairstyle complementary to her dress (props to Nhlahla Nciza for hooking her up). Additionally, this Diva stole the night and walked away with eight SAMA Awards in totality (together with last years).

The idea behind the look was fantabolous, however, the end product didnot look so great. Pabi Moloi's dress has great details and the make-up complements it, I do not know what happened thereafter..

Lalla looks absolutely adorable and gorgeous in this look, pity i could not find a full length photo before the blog was published.
You can definitely count on Somozi for absolute entertainment and Over The Top Outfits. Take this one for instance, the "Divo" (as he calls himself) is actually wearing glittery-silver stilettoes together with leather pants and  a jacket. You can trust David Tlale to execute whatever weird and hilarious idea that Somizi comes up with...
Generations actresses: Winnie, Palesa and Sophie, wearing complementary dresses at the night. Tell me which one looks better than the others, because it's actually hard to tell when you are bombarded with the same colour skim at once.

Dineo Ranaka wore Luv DR (her clothing range) for the night, such a great outfit over shadowed by her fight with AKA on twitter the following morning. Apparently, she never meant any harm she was just giving AKA advise..
Speaking of AKA the man was breathe taking on the night and won two awards for his album "outta ego".
It's sad when artists' personalities do not match their outfits. Nothende wore this dress at the night with her entire hip out!
Boity Thulo looked simple and elegant in this pink dress. I am starting to think that pink is her favourite colour, we have spotted her wearing a pink dress for the SAFTA Awards earlier this year.
Another pink dress was worn by Bonang Matheba at the yellow carpet. This Girl never disappoints; she knows her fashion!
Metro Fm Dj, Papi wore a red sexy dress
HHP's PR Practitioner, Lerato looked great with her African inspired look. We also loved HHP's performance-Bosso Ke Mang?
Top Billing's Lorna Maseko looked cute and bubbly with her short metallic dress
Minnie's second look did not have great impact as her first number. The top part of the dress looks spectacular, but that can not be said for the lower part. It's as if she attended the SA Traditional Music Awards.
It was refreshing to see Zizo Beda without the Girl Next Door Look. She actually had make-up and neatly tied her hair this time.
He may be suspended from the ANCYL for five years, but Julius Malema could not be missed with his pink suit.
Lastly, we also loved the theme of the night.

  1. lovely drling though it would be better to talk only about what we see or make what you want to talk about visible too, for instance you talked about boity,s other pink dress and i think it would be better if you had put it next to the other pic and also about zahara,s usual dresses for previous events so that we can see that you are speaking on facts and are able to show it.
