Umtata Airport under construction
By: Ndyaluvane Aviwe

Mthatha Airport to be under reconstruction to become an International Airport.

The current Mtata Airport (from your first sight it probably did not strike you as one)
These are the remarkable news that every Mtata resident yearned to hear two-years-ago during the 2010 Fifa World cup infrastructure programmes. If you are from Mtata, I bet you still remember how enthusiastic we were when the news first surfaced that all nine South African provinces were to undergo reconstruction to prepare for the world cup that we (as a nation) hosted successfully. Our expectations and dreams were much stimulated when construction first took place in Port Elizabeth (the mother city of the Eastern Cape). Who would forget the exhilaration we had when it was announced that Port Elizabeth would be granted the great privilege of hosting one game of the tournament.
The Port Elizabeth Airport and stadium respectively.

Few week later our neighbour, East London, was under reconstructions too; new stadium, roads and upgraded airport. At this point we had our faces blue from holding our breath, and only to be told that there were insufficient funds. Money had to be adequately utilized to hosting cities. Thus, in a nutshell, we were not going to host any match, therefore why should we benefit?
To add salt to an already excruciating wound, we had to constantly listen to the news about successfully upgraded cities and local citizens embracing the benefits of their cities hosting matches i.e. some were turning their homes into BnB’s, guest houses and their tourism departments prospering.
There was great news coverage during the Fifa World Cup about BEE opportunities.

Our consolation was the reminder of our ‘prestigious’ Nelson Mandela Museum which would magnificently attract tourists and boost our economy…really? No disrespect intended, but we had the museum since I was a kid and I have not seen any progression in Mtata because of the museum's 'tourist attraction.' I do acknowledge that Tat' Nelson Mandela is an honourable person and what he sacrificed (together with other political leaders) can not be dismissed.
Nelson Mandela Museum in Mtata.

However, I do not understand how a small town suffering from poverty and unemployment, high rates of; teenage pregnancy, substance abuse and crime rates, and poor government institutions; health services, home affairs and schools can possibly benefit from a 'museum'. Take for example, the Walter Sisulu University that is widely known for student strikes and poor educational systems. Wouldn't it be more worthwhile to invest in education and thus alleviate statistics of 'illeterate and unemployed Eastern Cape Youth.'
Or perhaps donated funds at children orphanages would have greater impact than a 'prestigious museum'.

With our mutual excitement with the nation and forgiving hearts (because we could not do much about the matter) we celebrated and cheered with other spectators (hosting cities)

Mtata Locals at the so-called 'Mtata stadium'

It is now, two-years later, with faded enthusiasm and our hearts have finally accepted our social condition, we are told that our dreadful airport is going to be upgraded to an international airport. We should be excited, shouldn't we? We are finally getting what we have always wanted, we presume... Who’s to say that this deal is genuine- perhaps Lindiwe Sisulu's comment should rest assure us;

“As Eastern Cape found itself unable to continue with operations at Mthatha Airport they approached central government to see if it did not have capacity and funding to carry on. The refurbishment would never have been completed if it was left in the provincial government’s hands.” she was qouted saying at the briefing.

Therefore, should we put blame in our provincial government and sing praise songs for our national government? They are the ones who rescued us from our misery after all-or are we fooled to believe this?

Uyanda Mbuli arrested "For Marrying The Wrong Men."

Uyanda was arrested on Thursday afternoon wearing nothing but sleepers and a pink bath rope! She has been arrested for allegedly assualting her soon to be ex-husband, Sisa. Uyanda had filed a divorce against Sisa earlier this year, because he was physically abusing her. She was arrested at her husband's house and taken to Midrand Police Station where she spent the entire night tweeting...However, she was released this afternoon on bail and she was so excited that she tweeted 'again' about her release; "Thanks for the support good people, I'm out on bail..At least I have Adele's music to listen to, LOL :)"   Well, what did you expect? She has former Nelson Mandela's lawyer as her legal adviser...

Zahara is recording a LIVE DVD

If you are a huge fan of Zahara or simply appreciate great music, then be sure attend Zahara's LIVE DVD recording of her platinum selling album, at Carnival city in 8-9 June. The tickets cost R180 each and VIP tickets at R250. Be sure to arrive early to have a seat at the front row or to sing your lungs out so you get featured on the recording. You wouldn't want to screw your chances of getting your 30 seconds of fame, trust me...

After Being suspended from the ANCYL, Malema says the "ANC treated him like a used CONDOM"
These were the words of former ANCYL leader when he addressed his newly formed group "Friends of the Youth League" in Mtata, in the Eastern Cape. He told the congregation that "We are used like condoms. Those who use condoms know how they work...They use them and dump them somewhere." It seems like you can't put a 'good man down', because Julius is not taking his five years suspension laying down. I guess we have to wait and see how this unfolds, not that our President would know anything about "using condoms" he prefers "showers" instead...
Minnie Dlamini named international hair ambassador

SAMA's Fashion Police
By: Aviwe Ndyaluvane

After the negative feedback that the SAMA's received last year, they have certainly elevated their game this year and astounded South Africans. Hosted in the usual channel, SABC1, on Monday South African viewers had the privilege of watching the SAMA's LIVE for the first time in 18years. Just like the saying goes "18 marks growth and independance", and this in a nutshell is what we, South Africans witnessed on Monday night.

But tell me, what can the SAMA's be without fashion...We all know that we don't watch the SAMA's solemnly for the acknowledgement of musicians' talent, we also watch them becuase we are curious to see what our celebrities will be wearing for the night; who will be exquisite and gorgeous, as well as  who will totaly miss the plot. I will begin (in no particular order) by saluting those who gave thought and effort into their outfits, and where not afraid to actually spend money on their outfits.

The Feather Girls: Minnie Dlamini, Miss SA Melinda Bam and Unathi Msengana. These ladies look absolutely amazing with their tight fitting and feathery dresses. Minnie opted for the transparent but yet elegent Hollywood inspired dress (the idea is to not get naked but leave little for imagination). Melinda opted for a Durban July inspired look, while Unathi opted for an African-Western inspired look.

With her second look for the night, Unathi again looked stunning. This time she opted for a laced and African inspired dress keeping it earthly original. Speaking about Unathi, this Diva actually swore on TV and got away with it...
Thembi Seete looked fierce in her leather and gold detailed dress; it totally shapes her body and reveals her figure.
It was absolutely refreshing to see Zahara without her colourful hairbands and afro. This time she actually had a hairstyle complementary to her dress (props to Nhlahla Nciza for hooking her up). Additionally, this Diva stole the night and walked away with eight SAMA Awards in totality (together with last years).

The idea behind the look was fantabolous, however, the end product didnot look so great. Pabi Moloi's dress has great details and the make-up complements it, I do not know what happened thereafter..

Lalla looks absolutely adorable and gorgeous in this look, pity i could not find a full length photo before the blog was published.
You can definitely count on Somozi for absolute entertainment and Over The Top Outfits. Take this one for instance, the "Divo" (as he calls himself) is actually wearing glittery-silver stilettoes together with leather pants and  a jacket. You can trust David Tlale to execute whatever weird and hilarious idea that Somizi comes up with...
Generations actresses: Winnie, Palesa and Sophie, wearing complementary dresses at the night. Tell me which one looks better than the others, because it's actually hard to tell when you are bombarded with the same colour skim at once.

Dineo Ranaka wore Luv DR (her clothing range) for the night, such a great outfit over shadowed by her fight with AKA on twitter the following morning. Apparently, she never meant any harm she was just giving AKA advise..
Speaking of AKA the man was breathe taking on the night and won two awards for his album "outta ego".
It's sad when artists' personalities do not match their outfits. Nothende wore this dress at the night with her entire hip out!
Boity Thulo looked simple and elegant in this pink dress. I am starting to think that pink is her favourite colour, we have spotted her wearing a pink dress for the SAFTA Awards earlier this year.
Another pink dress was worn by Bonang Matheba at the yellow carpet. This Girl never disappoints; she knows her fashion!
Metro Fm Dj, Papi wore a red sexy dress
HHP's PR Practitioner, Lerato looked great with her African inspired look. We also loved HHP's performance-Bosso Ke Mang?
Top Billing's Lorna Maseko looked cute and bubbly with her short metallic dress
Minnie's second look did not have great impact as her first number. The top part of the dress looks spectacular, but that can not be said for the lower part. It's as if she attended the SA Traditional Music Awards.
It was refreshing to see Zizo Beda without the Girl Next Door Look. She actually had make-up and neatly tied her hair this time.
He may be suspended from the ANCYL for five years, but Julius Malema could not be missed with his pink suit.
Lastly, we also loved the theme of the night.
